ABOUT BYRON BAY

Known as Kavvanbah by the local Bundjalung and Arakwal Nations, this is translated to  ‘meeting place’.

A place to chill out, reflect, dress casually, feel free. Byron Bay has been a sacred healing, birthing area for thousands of years;  a place of higher initiation and part of the major song-line that crosses Australia. To this day, there are gatherings, sacred ceremonies, birthing rituals, healing circles, dancing and music in the streets.

Your Retreat begins…

After arriving on the shuttle from the airport, we will meet together for brunch before gathering at Byron’s famous Lighthouse on the most easterly point of Australia’s mainland. An exquisite view of the bay, a swim and its off to check in to our gorgeous waterfront accommodation

Stay in a fabulous waterfront cabin where you can step outside and dive into the warm ‘Bruns’ River or a few meters away is the glorious Pacific Ocean surf beach or the safe protected Torakino Bay.  You’re right near the shops and cafes for that quiet village buzz.

THE  LIGHTHOUSE

At dawn, Walgun, Cape Byron is the first place on this continent to receive the sun’s rays. These rays blend with the giant crystal that forms the peak of Sacred Wollumbin (Mount Warning),  the highest mountain close to the most easterly point of Australia.

Wollumbin sends the sun’s rays across to the centre of Australia, to Uluru, heart centre of this nation and Third Chakra Centre of our Planet

CEREMONY

Gather for a Welcome Ceremony and picnic lunch at a special Sacred Site, where the head of the Rainbow Serpent begins. Feel the sense of belonging as we are Welcomed to Kuntri by the Traditional Custodian with a smoking and smudge ceremony, traditional songs, didge, story-telling and traditional dance performance.

Visit Sacred Womens area (women only) and participate in Sacred Water Ceremony.  Also experience a powerful Fire Ceremony as you offer up those pains and doubt for transmutation.

ACTIVITIES 

Interspersed with all we experience, there is time to relax, rest and have me-time. Swim, sunbathe and receive a delicious one hour massage from one of our favourite masseuses.

Explore your wildness with free-form dancing.

Come kayaking where we’re most likely to be visited by wild dolphins who come up to us – so much fun! Exhilarating! (Weather permitting).

Learn about local traditional culture as we meet with an Original Elder for a fascinating tour of the area.

Delight in the colour and creativity at the famous tree-lined Bangalow markets. 

Share in group circle while being soothed in a bubbling spa bath.

WOLLUMBIN

Because Wollumbin, known as Cloud Catcher or Weather-maker, is the highest point, close to the most easterly point of Australia, Cape Byron, it is the first place on mainland Australia to receive the sun’s rays. It is said the tip of the mountain has an enormous crystal and sends the suns rays across the song lines to Uluru, the heart centre of the continent. This is of great importance culturally, as the sun is the source of energy and life. An ancestral ceremonial and initiation site, Wollumbin is sacred to the Indigenous Peoples of Australia.

Wollumbin known traditionally as Wollumbiny Momily (Mt Warning) Caldera is a volcanic rim forming the largest extinct shield-rim volcano in the world, which last erupted 22 million years ago. This is the oldest link to the original supercontinent, Gondwanaland, and makes for incredibly lush, pristine rainforests and clear mountain streams, and ancestral wisdom

 And then ….

Gather together for our Closing Ceremony and give thanks for our blessed time together, honouring each one as they have reflected back to us, a part of ourselves. As we do this, we radiate our love out to all That Is.  

Celebrate our coming together, out on the town, with a Farewell Dinner. Then settle in for a sweet night’s sleep, listening to the sound of the waves on the shore so close by.  Breathe in that fresh salty air, so you awaken rejuvenated and fresh, ready to start a new adventure as you head for home
